AMC has announced what could only be expected (and perhaps not so expected) after Sunday night’s episode of Breaking Bad. A complte series box set will be released some time in November with all five seasons and many great bonus features.

The box set, as pictured, will be cased in a plastic (plastic Jessie, it has to be plastic!) barrel akin to the ones used b Walter White to store his millions and dispose of unwanted bodies. Aside from the presentation, the box set will also include a Los Pollos Hermanos apron, a commemorative coin and a collector’s booklet which includes a letter from series creator Vince Gilligan. The box set will also include over 2 hours of never-before-seen footage. This will come in the form of a 2 hour documentary covering many aspects of filming the show, plus interviews with the cast.

The most interesting piece of information released with the announcement of this box set is the addition of a 3-minute alternate ending for the finale of the series. Fans will not only be able to revel over the much anticipated ending to the fifth series, but will also be able to experience an alternating ending. What both endings will hold for the characters however, is still a complete mystery. This looks like it will be a great box set to own and a great way to experience Breaking Bad for those (who are you?) that have never experienced the show.

Final Season Bonus Features:

Cast and Crew Commentaries – On Every Episode

4 Featurettes – The Main Event, The Final Showdown, Life of a Show Runner and Behind-the-Scenes of the Alternate Ending

Alternate Ending – A 3-minute alternate version of how Breaking Bad could have ended.

Breaking Bad – Predictions

Be free, ridiculously large pizza!

Be free, ridiculously large pizza!

So it’s currently 2 and a half hours until the next episode of Breaking Bad airs in America, and I’ll be watching it on a live stream on my laptop because I’m that addicted to it at the moment. The last episode was tense with action and pretty much the best episode there has been yet. In my opinion I think Breaking Bad is one of, if not close to, the best TV show that’s ever aired. Serious hype for it right now.

I never thought I’d enjoy watching it to be honest – the whole concept of a chem teacher turned meth cook seemed a little absurd and far fetched at first but after watching those first few episode you become completely hooked and invested in the characters. I was late to start watching BB, only got into it after the first half of season 5 had finished (those are the benefits of having Netflix though).
There’s something about Walter White that makes you root for him, even though you know everything he has done is morally wrong. He might have started with good intentions, but he followed a road full of wrongful misdoings, yet you can’t help but hope he gets away with it, and you still cheer every time he kicks ass or says an awesome line. That’s got to indicate some great character writing and acting from Cranston.

So what’s gonna happen as the last episodes approach? It’s literally anyone’s guess.

Predictions:

i) Walter is going to end up killing Skyler (and maybe Jessie too) after he ends up getting backed into a corner by them.
It’s already been hinted that Jessie is still in the episodes pretty much up until the end so he might not get killed off.
Theory: Every time Walt has killed someone he ends up inheriting one of the traits they had; he started cutting the crusts of his bread, he took his spirits on the rocks like Mike did, and he kneels down on the floor on a towel, like Gus did. n the flash forward it’s shown that Walt rips ups his bacon and puts into the shape of the numbers of i age on his Birthday, just like Skyler is meant to do, so maybe this shows that Walt inherits that trait from her after killing her. Also he’s also wearing a baggy coat, akin to the type that Jessie might wear, but I’m a little more skeptical towards that idea as I don’t think Jessie’s ever worn one quite like that.

ii) Walt get’s caught in the end.
There’s not been an American show/movie almost ever that doesn’t show the good guys winning out, or having the moral of the story win out at the end. The teaser poster for the second half of season 5 “All bad things must come to an end” seems to allude to this. After all Walter is a bad person, and even if we do like him, he has done bad things.
So it seems only morally right that in the end he gets caught – probably by Hank and goes down for his actions. I can’t see his cancer killing him off because that seems like too much like an easy get out for the anti-hero.

iii) Walter turns himself in.
Probably being haunted by the pain he’s caused his family, Walter ends up turning himself in (even though in the future, he seems to be perfectly happy apparently being away from his family (but who is that gun for?! is it just for protection? Who’s after him? so many questions – but that’s why it’s so good!)).
I kind of feel like Walt Jr is going to end up getting caught in the crossfire and ends up getting killed maybe. He’s the only person (aside from Holly) that doesn’t have a morally ambiguous nature – he’s been completely good throughout the show. It seems like it might end with Jr. being killed as the final blow to the innocence left in the show – and Walt turns himself in because he doesn’t want to see anyone else get hurt and is left broken after Jr. dying.

iv) Mike isn’t dead.
Does anyone actually see Mike die? I think Walt just leaves him in peace by the water and then heads off, does he just assume that he dies? Maybe it’s just hope because Mike was such a good character and I want him to come back, but maybe he’s not dead after all. And comes back to seek revenge on Walter. Maybe Walter gets killed by him?

v) Who is the ricin for?
Why does Walt go and retrieve the ricin from his now abandoned house? Who is it for?
Maybe Walt plans to use it on himself after killing someone with the gun he purchased. Unless it’s for Hank or Jessie to stop him squealing, or maybe Skyler for the same reason, I don’t know who it would be for.
It seems apt that Walt’s “Sky Blue” empire is pretty much dominated by Sky[ler], and blue has been a really large part in he character, popping up in a lot of her scenes with a lot of symbolism. Maybe the one thing Walt can’t escape is Sky Blue, (or maybe that Skyler’s going to end up being blue?)

vi) Badger’s Star Trek script actually foreshadows the ending of the show.
In a standoff, Walt challenges Hank to a pie eating contest, and if Hank wins Walt will turn himself in. Although during the contest, Walt chokes on a piece of pie and dies. The End.

There are thousands of ways that Breaking Bad could end, but I’m pretty sure the best ending will be saved for the one that’s coming.
